The Religious Emblem program in Scouting America is a meaningful opportunity for Scouts to grow in their faith while deepening their understanding of duty to God—one of the core principles of Scouting. This program is designed to help Scouts explore their own religious beliefs through age-appropriate activities and mentorship, often in partnership with their family and faith community. Each emblem is created and administered by the Scout’s specific religious organization, and upon completion, Scouts are recognized with a special medal and the option to wear a knot on their uniform. Participation is entirely voluntary but highly encouraged as a way to support a Scout’s spiritual development and personal growth.
