Bushy Run District Scout Night at the
Evergreen Drive-In Camping Event

August 10, 2024

Who: Open to all Scouts, Scout Leaders, and Scouts’ immediate families only (Cub Scout Packs, Scout BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, OA members, and Girl Scout Troops). BALOO trained persons will be on site to allow for Cub Scout Pack family camping. This is NOT a recruiting event; please do not invite neighbors, friends, cousins, classmates.

What: View two movies at the Evergreen Drive-In Theatre and overnight camping on site under the movie screens. The Drive-In will allow us early access through the Exit gate (before the box office entrance gate opens). We set up our tents prior to the movies. We do not yet know which movies will be playing. I will choose whichever movie screen has the most family-friendly rated movies. Please make every effort to carpool, as the Drive-In’s capacity is
based on the number of vehicles.

Arrival time is between 6:10 PM and 6:45 PM only, no late entry through the Box
Office main gate.

When: Saturday evening, August 10, 2024, 6:10 PM through Sunday morning August 11, 8:00 AM, rain or shine

Why: This is a unique opportunity for our Scouts to enjoy movies, outdoor summer fun, and camping!

Safety: Scout Leaders and Parents/Guardians are responsible for ensuring that Scouts/siblings follow all safety rules. All participants should review the Evergreen’s Rules and Policies on their website. Please know where your Scouts/children are at and what they are doing at all times; children should not be unattended.

Anyone not following the Evergreen’s Policies will be asked to leave the event immediately, no refunds.  If you are not feeling well, you should not attend.

Price: $7 per person (regardless of age)

Scouts are Courteous and Thrifty, please carpool!  Price includes admission for two movies, camping, plus small drink and small popcorn for each Scout.  No refunds. Please do not register/pay at the Scout Office nor at the Drive-In box office.

Sign Up: Any one person from each Scout Unit should email Karen Lazar with all of the following:

  • Pack/Troop/Crew number
  • Unit contact name, email, and phone number
  • Number of Scouts, number of adults, and number of siblings attending
  • Number of vehicles attending
  • Payment for the entire Unit must be made in advance, by cash or check (payable to BSA Pack 253). Each Unit contact will then be provided with a Vehicle # for each vehicle attending. Upon arrival at the event, upon identifying their Vehicle #, wristbands will be provided to the Scouts for their small drink and small popcorn at the concession stand.

Please do not make reservations or payment at the Drive-In box office or at the Council Office. (The number of vehicles will determine our sign-up capacity; please be Courteous and plan to carpool.)

What to bring: Tent, sleeping bag or blanket, and pillow for camping; chair or blanket for your comfort while watching movies; radio/boom box to tune to radio station for movie sound; and money for the concession stand to purchase food/snacks. The only food that we are permitted to bring in is if you need to eat something for breakfast before departing in the morning.

Color guard: If your Troop/Crew would like to volunteer to be Color Guard for the National Anthem before the movies begin, please let me know when you sign up.
